What is Nown? The memory layer of hospitality

Halftone print of an empty grand hotel lobby with a sweeping staircase and a potted palm.

Nown is the memory layer of hospitality. It gives luxury and upper-upscale hotels guest intelligence their teams can act on, bringing together what a hotel already knows about a guest and what the guest chooses to share, so the right team has it before arrival. Nown Control is for hotel teams, and Nown Pass is for guests.

In short

  • Nown is for luxury and upper-upscale hotels, from independent properties to international brands, and the guests who stay with them.
  • Nown Control gives each hotel team a short brief before every stay.
  • Nown Pass lets guests share their preferences once, in their own words. They decide what travels.
  • Nown works alongside a hotel's existing systems and replaces none of them.
  • Nown SAS is based in Paris.

Why hospitality needs a memory

Hotels learn a great deal about their guests during a stay, in conversation and in service, and much of it never reaches the next visit. Nown keeps it.

For a guest, that means not repeating themselves at every stay. For a hotel, it means each team arrives at the moment of service knowing what matters to the person in front of them.

Nown Control, for hotel teams

With Nown Control, each team sees what matters to them in a short brief ahead of each stay. The kitchen sees the allergy, housekeeping the room, the concierge the occasion. During the stay, staff add what they notice, so it is there next time.

A brief replaces searching through notes and systems, and adding an observation is quick. Nown trains each department and supports the hotel throughout. Explore Nown Control.

Nown Pass, for guests

Nown Pass lets you share your preferences once, in your own words, and be recognised at hotels using Nown. You tell the hotel how you like to be looked after, from dietary needs to the room you prefer, and the team has it before you arrive. You decide what travels.

How they work together

A hotel doesn't need its guests to have a Pass to use Nown. Control works with what the hotel already knows and what its teams notice. A Pass adds what the guest chooses to share, and lets it follow them to other hotels using Nown.

With Nown, guest preferences travel and hotels remember.

What Nown is not

Nown doesn't replace a hotel's property management system or CRM. The property management system remains the system of record, and CRM, loyalty and messaging tools carry on as they are. Nown works alongside them, turning what they hold and what staff notice into something each team can act on.

Our mission

Nown exists to give hospitality a memory of every guest, so that each stay is more personal than the last, wherever the guest chooses to stay.

What we offer is the ability to feel known in hospitality, and the means for hotels to provide it. Being recognised is what turns a good stay into one people come back for. Until now, it was something you couldn't buy.

Why it matters

Much of what people use every day now adapts to them. Their music and the films they're offered learn what they like. Hospitality, the industry most defined by personal service, finds this hardest to do consistently.

The reason is rarely a lack of care, or of information. A hotel may hold a great deal about a guest, but what matters doesn't always reach the right person at the moment of service, and what is learned seldom travels to the next stay or the next hotel. That is the gap Nown closes.

What it means for hospitality

Every stay builds on the last. What a team learns becomes part of how the next stay begins, instead of being learned again.

Recognition doesn't depend on a hotel's size. A fifty-room independent hotel can know its guests as well as an international brand.

Guests decide what travels. Preferences belong to the person they describe, so trust becomes part of the service.

People stay at the centre. Nown helps staff remember the small things. It doesn't replace them. Still a person at the desk, just one who already knows.

What we hold to

  • Guests decide what their Pass shares.
  • Hotels keep control of their own records.
  • Nown does not sell guest data.
